The Anglo-Saxons were a mix of tribes from Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands. The three of the biggest tribes were the Angles, the Saxons, and the Jutes. During the fifth century, the Anglo-Saxons migrated from Germany to Great Britain. Many of the people in Roman Britain were Christians, meaning they believe in one God. The Anglo-Saxons on the other hand were Pagans, which meant they believed in many Gods. Over time, the Anglo-Saxons slowly converted their religion to Christianity. The Anglo-Saxons kings and nobles were the first to convert and to accept this new religion. Once their superiors converted, they decided to follow in their steps and convert as well. Although, not all of them were happy with their decision of converting to Christianity, so they then went back to Paganism. It took about a century for Christianity to be the major religion in Britain.
